Why I use a fitbit?

I never imagined the impact a fitbit could have on my life. I received the fitbit flex 2 in black for my birthday last year and have worn it every day since then. It honestly is incredible how this little wristband can greatly influence my life. Let me tell you why...
First, I LOVE the app. The app is very easy to use and it allows me to track everything! I am able to track calories after every meal, add the amount of water I have drank by clicking on the fun glass (8 oz.) and bottle (16 oz.) icons, and track how much I have exercised by either manually adding in the activity I have done or viewing my "active minutes". The active minutes section is very cool because it shows a lightning bolt once you become more active. You never have to even open the app to activate it because it happens instantly on its own! Lastly, the fitbit even tracks how much you sleep just by wearing it at night, and it is crazy how accurate it is too. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to drink some water and the next morning when I checked the app, my fitbit showed that at the exact same time, I had been awake.
Another reason I love my fitbit in particular is because it is water proof. Most of the apple watches or other fitness wristbands are water resistant, but what happens if you want to go swimming or accidentally forget to take it off when you shower? The fitbit flex 2 does not have a screen, but it has 5 dots that vibrate and send color-coded reminders. Although you don't get to see the time, who is calling or texting you, or the exact amount of steps you have without checking your phone, the waterproof fitbit allows me to collect every active minute I have because I never have to take it off! It is up to you which you value more, but I personally love not having a screen because I need my phone to play music at the gym anyways!
A third reason I love my fitbit is because it sends color coded reminders to you throughout the day. A blue and white reminder means that you have received a text, where an elongated blue reminder means that you are receiving a call. Now, a pink reminder means that you need to get up and start moving in order to reach your step goal for that hour. Lastly, when the fitbit vibrates like crazy in rainbow colors, that means that you have reached your step goal for the day! My step goal is 10,000 steps a day and I typically reach that goal most days especially when I'm walking to class or have skating practice.
Tracking these three items keeps me on schedule and allows me to see when I can treat myself. It also helps me balance out my meals and decide what days I should head to the gym and what days I should let my body relax. Having a fitbit is a great way to stay on top of your goals as well as it has a special feature where you can set goals related to your diet, exercise, water intake, and even the amount of steps you take each hour. The fitbit truly is an incredible fitness advancement because it allows you as in individual to connect with it and put as much work into it as you want. What you put into it, is what you will get out of it. I hope this helps!
